Worldbuilding: Rai'cath Naionec

last art-slam piece that I posted. This guy is the worst of the big bads in the heartwood world. Hes one of the three god/beast/uberlifeforms that exist in the world, the guardian of the world from the void and the monsters that reside within. Hes also dead as can be in cannon, but the scars of what he did to the the world are still deeply felt in the time that my stories are set, some four thousand years later.

I'm really proud of this character. its very hard to justify what motivates a living character, even an inhuman one, to commit such devastating and horrific acts, but I finally found what makes this character tick, the foundations and events that drove him to start an attempted global purge of the humanoid races.

In his mind, and in the minds of the other two members of the three he is not evil, they just did not agree with him. The humans did not agree either, although admittedly they were bias.

I'm really glad I finally figured out his motivations, Hopefully when I get around to writing about the conflict between him and his herald Ahnalun (a story I really want to write someday) it will make his devotion to his god and what he stands for, come across as powerfully as I envision it.

Of course I'm not going to tell you what they are. That's a twist I'm saving
