Speed-paint, about 40 min did this one listening to this song:[link]

As some of my watchers will know, I've been doing ArtSlam [link] on tumblr, a 3 month challenge to produce one piece of work a day to a self chosen theme.
The theme I have picked is story-worldbuilding. Ill probably post some collections of the sketches (and some of them have been really sketchy) on DA eventually, but this one [link] I like well enough as a standalone so I thought id share it with my DA audience.

I just love how simple the grayscale and those beautiful brushstrokes blend together. The one really bold brush stroke in the front of the dragon to show the winding motion is just perfect! That this took you only 40 minutes is incredible. Have I mentioned how much I love this picture?

Thank you. My personal favorites usually come from those that are spur of the moment pieces. Its always glorious to hear when others enjoy those pieces too :)

What kind of brushes do u use?

Most of the time I am switching between default round brushes in Photoshop, But I did pick up square brush somewhere I like to use allot for blocking out shapes and speed-paints like this, but I could not tell you where I got it from (I think it might have been in every artists pick I have ever downloaded for one).

I don't have any favorite brush sizes, I tend to just edit them on the fly. I do have a number of simple effects brushes I like to use occasionally, and a library of texture-brushes I thumb through when I am playing around, but the majority of my work uses very boring brushes I'm afraid. :)
